Eloping at the Inns of Aurora on Cayuga Lake might be one of the most romantic things you could ever do
I arrived to photograph M+S’s elopement at The Inns of Aurora on a warm late September day. Situated lakeside in the historic town of Aurora, NY in the Finger Lakes, the award-winning resort & spa is a collection of meticulously restored mansions transformed into luxurious & quaint inns.
M+S contacted me just 2 weeks prior about their plans to hop on a plane and travel to NY to say “I do.” It was a whirlwind for them planning their spontaneous elopement with 2 weeks notice. Trying to pin down a day that wouldn’t be rained out was difficult (the Fall this year had been rainy almost every day). The day they picked couldn’t have been a more perfect. Mother Nature provided the couple with warm air, clear skies, and a truly magnificent sunset.
Documenting the day exactly as it happened
The love these two have for each other was something to witness. I didn’t need to direct or force a single thing. I simply photographed them as they laughed, cried, and celebrated this incredible day between just the two of them. After the ceremony, they popped a bottle of champagne and we wandered the lakefront together and I documented all the moments, exactly as they happened, that they will never, ever want to forget.
