Can you tell us about your business and what inspired you to start it?
brooksybox offers thoughtfully curated care packages to support women through infertility, baby loss, pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. Each box is intentionally designed with products that care for her based on where she is in her journey.
My husband and I struggled with infertility before welcoming our first little miracle through IVF. The journey was mentally, physically, emotionally—and financially—exhausting.
When we became pregnant, I prepared so much for our son that I felt completely blindsided by my own postpartum experience.
But when my sister-in-law first came to meet him, she gave me a basket of items meant for me—to help with my recovery.
Let’s just say I was blown away. I remember feeling SO grateful and tearing up. I thought, “Why have I never done this for a mama before?” I was always the one giving just another outfit for the baby.
During such a vulnerable time, when I felt I only existed to care for someone else, my sister-in-law made me feel truly seen and supported.
I wanted every woman to experience that feeling—no matter where she is on her journey of motherhood.
How does your business support individuals through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum?

Do you have a personal story that led you to this work?
In addition to what I shared earlier, here are a few other personal stories behind specific care packages:
Infertility Care Package:
I had three best friends go through infertility before me. Reflecting back, I realize I didn’t support them in the way I wish I had. I didn’t fully understand what they were going through. After experiencing it myself, I created the infertility care package based on my own journey.
Baby Loss Care Package:
When someone I cared about lost their baby, I never knew what to say or send. I wanted them to feel seen, loved, and supported—and to honor and remember their little one. I often defaulted to sending flowers, but I knew there had to be a better way. That’s why I designed a care package that captures all the emotions so many of us feel (and struggle to express) during loss.
What do you love most about serving the Rochester community?
Making connections and sharing experiences with so many incredible women on their own journeys of motherhood. Women who start as “internet friends” often become real-life friends, and that’s something I truly cherish.
Do you have any tips for expecting parents to feel more prepared for pregnancy, birth, or postpartum?
Spend as much time preparing for your postpartum recovery as you do for the baby and birth.
I’ve also learned that the best way to parent is your way. The internet can be a blessing and a curse—there’s a lot of helpful information, but also a lot of noise. Do what feels right for you, your baby, and your family.
Lastly, my husband and I use a “Solution vs. Comfort” method. Whenever I’m overwhelmed or venting, he asks, “Do you want a solution or do you want comfort?” It’s been a game-changer, especially postpartum, when sometimes you just need someone to listen, not fix.
